Weeping Water Gun Club Range Rules

1.        All members and guests, whether shooting or not, will adhere to the following Range Rules and must follow the direction of any Club Certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) while on WWGC property. Any direction, suggestion or interpretation of range rules by an RSO is binding. RSOs have orange membership cards and/or orange headgear. RSOs have the authority to remove any person from WWGC property with instructions not to return until the Board of Directors has decided the disposition of their behavior. Membership dues, initiation fees, match and use fees are non-refundable.Possession of a concealed carry permit does not alter any of the range rules.

2.        NO alcoholic beverages are allowed on WWGC property. Consumption of alcohol prior to entering WWGC property is prohibited.

3.        The WWGC shooting park is a “COLD RANGE:” NO movement with a loaded firearm unless participating in a sanctioned and supervised match, NO holstered pistols or revolvers will be worn on the property. NO handling of firearms when people are down range: ALL firearms will be benched or grounded with the action open, safety on and magazine removed if possible, then STAND AWAY, DON’T TOUCH: New shooters arriving at the range will not uncase or handle firearms when anyone is forward of the firing line. Any time a firearm is not pointed directly at a provided backstop all parts of the shooter’s hand will be visibly outside the trigger guard. Muzzle discipline is absolutely essential, always point firearms down range when shooting.

4.        The RED flag will be raised any time anyone is on range property.  Only the farmer raises the YELLOW flag. When the yellow flag is raised shooters will first make a reasonable effort to determine that no one is working down range. If the farmer is contacted, shooters will cooperate with the farmer to safely use the range property. The farmer does not have the authority to stop use of the range. The farmer has a Non-Member ID card and has been granted permission to cross WWGC Property. Ultimate responsibility for safe use of the property rests with the shooter.

5.        Shooting hours are from 8:00 AM to 1 hour before sunset on week days & 9:00 AM to 1 hour before sunset on weekends. (Scheduled Matches and mowing take priority) Hunting is not permitted; firing at live birds or animals is prohibited. Open use of other parts of the range property during posted matches is at the discretion of the match director, and/or assigned safety officer.

6.        Membership cards & photo ID must be shown upon request of any club member, (or Law Enforcement) anyone without proof of membership will leave the property. (Other than when the range is open to the public for posted events.)

7.        TARGETS: It is the shooter’s responsibility to only fire on targets placed at the proper height for bullets to impact the provided backstops, no projectiles are to strike the ground between the shooter and the provided backstop. NO glass objects, rocks, stones or cylindrical metal objects will be used as targets, stationary clay targets will be placed directly on the backstop. Gong or paddle type targets must be placed directly at the base of a provided backstop and will be constructed is such a manner that projectile fragments will be directed down. Targets will NOT be placed in the immediate proximity of metal target stands, frames or bases or directly over the wood framework of the target stands.

8.        The entry gate will be locked at all times (close after entering). The only exceptions are during scheduled events and workdays.

9.        Before going down range obtain verbal clearance from everyone on the firing line. Before the start of resumption of firing inform everyone verbally on the firing line that the “RANGE IS HOT.” During open use of the range, shooters are expected to be aware of others and respect their wishes to go down range.

10.     NO cross lane shooting, projectiles are to be fired into the provided back stop at exactly a 90 degree angle (straight in line with the shooting position, not at targets in a shooting lane with a higher or lower number)

11.     AMMUNITION: No tracer, incendiary or armor piercing rounds are to be used, exploding targets are not permitted or any target that could create a fire hazard. The short range is a “rimfire/handgun” range. No rifle caliber handguns, no shotgun slugs or buckshot.

12.     Police your trash, targets and BRASS (even rimfire), after shooting, place in the proper receptacle, put chairs, stands and benches back to their proper position, leave nothing in front of the firing line that was not there when you arrived. Clay targets are biodegradable and need not be removed. Keeping a presentable range is each member’s responsibility!!

13.     Members must obtain prior permission and must be in possession of signed documentation from the Board of Directors to shoot fully automatic firearms or firearms of .50 BMG or similar large cartridges on WWGC property.  The member must directly supervise guests shooting these firearms.(1to1) 50 BMG’s will fire the far left lane on the rifle range out from under the overhead. Full autos “INCLUDES RAPID FIRE TRIGGER DEVICES” will use only the short-range end of the rifle range. Auto fire is limited to 3 round bursts, no full auto 50’s. (If it sounds like an auto the permit is required.)

14.     Eye and ear protection is recommended. Hearing protection is required for anyone 16 years and younger. EYE PROTECTION IS REQUIRED AT BOWLING PIN & STEEL PLATE SHOOTS, (SHOOTERS AND SPECTATORS)

15.     Members may bring an individual guest (other than household family) (3) times (1 member and 2 guests per visit). DO NOT loan firearms to anyone who is not legally able to possess firearms. The board of directors highly recommends that all members retain a signed copy of these range rules for each guest using the range.

16.     Shooting is a dignified activity; range etiquette, appropriate language, and responsible adult behavior is expected at all times.

17.     Educate your children in safe gun handling techniques, proper range behavior and etiquette. Children will be supervised at all times by those who bring them.

18.     Pets will be humanely contained or restrained no less than 50 feet behind the firing line.

19.     Firing direction is from the firing line to the east only.  No flying clay target shooting other than east from the far left “North” end of the rifle firing line. (50 and shotgun shooters will cooperate to operate the range safely).
