Flash Flood Damage 05/22/2004

Flood damage on May 22, 2004

This occurred the evening of the work day, we found it when we arrived for the High Power match on Sunday 5-23-04

The rapid runoff plugged the main drain with trash "blue arrow".

A mass of branches and sticks tangled with a piece of discarded wire then plugged the overflow "red circle"s, flood water then flowed over the drive.

A board member cleared out the entrances to both tubes on Monday the 24th., this should handle normal run off but another flash flood will cause more damage.

There is considerable erosion on the north side of the drive, the poles that were on the south side of the drive are now against the fence on the north side of the drive. A railroad tie and another pole are now out in the field.

There is a lot of debris that need to be carried away from the drive area and put in a burn pile.

Do not go down into this drain area without first attaching a rope to the fence to assist in getting back up the bank when you are done. The mud is extremely slick and deeper than it appears by the drain entrances.

Any members who help make repairs will have their efforts recorded if you report your hours to the Membership Director.
