Range Condition

The work day on 07/09/2011 went well, we got rained out for a short time.
16 members participated
Lots of mowing and weed cutting, resurfaced the rifle firing line, the restroom building was cleaned up with a pressure washer, parking stops repositioned and anchored, target frames repaired and painted, new targets pasted for the rifle targets, more driftwood removed from last year's floods and much more.
When we arrived there was no electricity, OPPD had the failed transformer replaced shortly after noon.
A big thank you to all who helped, it got beastly hot before the day was over.
All Members
We have someone using the facility who has no interest in what is best for the club. And apparently they believe themselves to be so wonderful the rest of us should pick up after them like their mommy did when they were three. This is our club it belongs to each of we members. Whoever these slobs are, they are just sticking their thumb in our eye as a thank you for providing them with a place to shoot and leave a mess. We ask that all members provide the identity of anyone violating these rules to any of the board members so the issues may be resolved.
#1 When we went down for work day we found that someone had been shooting at oranges on the ground. There were several ricochet marks in the ground plus the fruit fragments that had not been cleaned up.
Rule 7 requires all rounds to
go into the backstop not into the infield between the firing line and the backstop.
Rule 12 requires that we pick up after ourselves and leave nothing forward of the
firing line that was not there when we arrived.
#2 Someone is placing clay targets on the provided blackjack target backing and
shooting them. This issue was brought up with the last invitation to renew.
Rule 7 requires that stationary clay targets be place directly on an earth backstop not on the target backing.
#3 Again an issue that was brought up at renewal time. Someone is leaving our lock combination on the farmers lock. The logical conclusion is that someone is leaving our combination for someone who is not authorized to be on the property. Since our lock is on the outside of the gate and the farm lock is on the inside it does not appear that someone tries the farm lock first then the correct one. The reminder is to make sure no part of our combination is left on either lock.
#4 A new issue: One of our members at his own expense built two flag tubes with screw on end plugs. The issue is obvious: some insects destroy fabric, a sealed container to protects the flags from insects and the ravages of weather. So we remove the flags when needed and replace the cap. At the end of the shooting day we remove the flag from the rope and seal it in it's container. We have someone who is so tired at the end of their shooting day they just cannot managed to remove the flag, secure the rope and close the container. Whoever this is obviously could not care less if the flags deteriorate or they are just simply too lazy to be using the facility.
